Tips on How to Evaluate Online Information Sources
(adapted from CQResearcher, August 2008)
look closely at the URL (web address) .org and .edu don't mean that they are necessarily reliable web sites.
locate the main Web site--erase everything that follows the .com, .edu, .org, etc. to see the main web site.
can a real person be contacted? Check the About or About Us page if there is one.
are there additional links and/or references as to where the information came from?
are there misspellings and typos?
